Access Statement for Avon Beach Bed and Breakfast
Introduction
Situated in a peaceful location 5 minutes walk from Avon Beach and 10 minutes drive from Christchurch Town Centre.
Avon Beach Bed & Breakfast is situated on a flat road (no hills) and have two parking facilities.
We have two double bedrooms with en-suite on the ground floor with easy access.

Pre-Arrival
The nearest railway station is located in Stour Road (Christchurch, BH23 1PL)
Taxis are usually available at Bargates in Christchurch but we can book one for you in advance if required. Disabled Transport Services is also available.
The nearest bus stop (No 111 of Yellow Buses Services) are just in Bure Lane, 160 metres away from Avon Beach Bed & Breakfast. No111 runs every 2 hours to Castlepoint – RB Hospital – Iford – River Way – Fairmile – Christchurch Hospital – Christchurch – Mudeford – Somerford – Hinton Admiral – Highcliffe.
Another bus (No 1b) is only 300 metres away from Avon Beach Bed & Breakfast. It runs through Poole – Lower Parkstone – Upper Parkstone – Branksome – Westbourne – Bournemouth – Boscombe – Fishermans Walk – Cranleigh Road – Tuckton – Christchurch.
This bus runs every 15 mins.
Streets in the area surrounding Avon Beach Bed & Breakfast are paved and level.
The nearest Mobility aids & vehicles hire is Dunbar & Dean Electric Transport Ltd situated 1.3 miles aways from Avon Beach Bed & Breakfast, at 31 St. Catherine Road in Bournemouth (BH6 4AE).

Car Parking and Arrival
Parking is available on site. We can accommodate up to two car park places.
Car park is levelled and gravelled.
We have an outside light that automatically switches on when there is movement nearby.
You can get dropped off just outside Avon Beach Bed & Breakfast if you wish.
There are two very short steps to the front door and the entrance is very wide to welcome wheelchairs. There are no handrails on either of the sides.
Our door opening width is 84cm (just under 33in).
We will of course assist you with your luggage on arrival.
Welcome Area
Guests are welcomed in the hallway, which is level throughout where they are asked to register.
The area is well lit with overhead lighting. Seating is available with one upright chair.
The floors are tiled in the hallway.
A magnifying glass is available on arrival as well as pen and pad of paper.
We will show our guests around the property after registration.
Bedrooms
Both our bedrooms are on the ground floor. They are both en-suite and therefore very easily accessible.
We have a blue room and a yellow room. Both newly decorated.
The door opening width of the blue room is 84cm (just under 33in) and the yellow room is 76cm (just under 30in)
Furniture can be moved around on request. Both beds are zip-link to suit guest’s needs.
The height of the beds to the top of the mattress are both 63cm (25in).
There is a bedside lamp on one side of each bedroom. The bedrooms are evenly lit with central ceiling light.
Both bedrooms are carpeted and are colour matching. The blue room consists of beautiful blue decorations while the yellow room has its own yellow decoration. Both bedroom walls are painted Egyptian white.
Both bedroom have a double wardrobe with hanging facilities and a chest of drawers/dressing table.
Our beds are normally made up with duvets. Our standard pillows are feather and down, however alternatives are also available. Please specify before your arrival if required.
Flat screen Freeview digital TV with subtitles available.
Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets (Ensuite or Shared)
There is level access from the bedrooms to the en-suite.
The door opening width is 76cm (just under 30in) in both bedrooms.
Both bedrooms have showers.
The height of the WC from floor to seat is 42cm (16.5in) in both bedrooms.
There is space under the sink with no pedestal.
There is a grab rail next to each toilet that are fitted on the wall.
The tap is a lever.
Each bathroom are well lit with ceiling light.
Walls are Egyptian white which contrast with a beautiful beige colour.
The floors are non-slips tiles.
Public Areas – Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors
All public areas are well lit using ceiling light.
The floor is tiled and all areas are on ground floor. There are no steps to the guest breakfast room.
Avon Beach Bed & Breakfast is fully centrally heated throughout but temperatures can be adjusted in each room to suit individual’s requirements.
There are automatic audible smoke alarms in the main hall.
Dining Room
The breakfast room is situated off the hallway on the ground floor and the entrance is 76cm (just under 30in) wide and step free/level entry.
The floor is fully tiled.
A large window on the ceiling allows plenty of natural light supplemented by adjustable overhead wall lights.
There is seating for 5 people at a solid oak table with coordinating upright comfortable chairs.
There is a coordinating oak cabinet where guests can help themselves to cereal, fruits, yoghurts, juices and bread.
Assistance can be provided on request.
The rest is table serviced.
We cater for dietary needs on request.
Additional Information
There are “In Case of Fire” instructions along with a Welcoming letter, an information folder with maps giving information on NHS facilities, local restaurants/pubs, travel and theatres in each bedroom.
We also have a selection of menus from local restaurants for guests’ perusal.
A battery charging facility is also available for a motorised scooter.
Free broadband and Wi-Fi facilities are available.
We can refrigerate prescription medication and additionally store any perishable food in our fridge for a limited period.
Low-energy lighting is used all around Avon Beach Bed & Breakfast.
